State Championship Wrestling with Toby Wilcox

Toby Wilcox is a Sophomore at Kingsford High School, a football player, member of the track team, and a wrestler.

Toby's overall record this year was 35-10. For most matches, he wrestled in the 145 lb. weight class, occasionally bumping up to the 152 weight class to have better competition.

He was the #1 seed at districts and ended up losing in the finals to Kyan Fessenden from Kingsley. Toby took 3rd at regionals and ended up beating Fessenden.

At the state competition, Toby lost his first match 12-3 to the #4 ranked wrestler in the state. He went on to win his second match in a 4-2 tangle. That moved Toby into the blood rounds where he had the opportunity to wrestle back to a potential 3rd place finish. Toby lost his third match 11-3, ending his 2019-2020 season placing him in the top 12 in the state.

Toby likes the personal responsibility that wrestling demands and the quickness, balance, strength, and self-discipline that it helps bring to the football field.

You will be able to hear Toby tell his story on, Season 20- Episode 11 of "The Kingsford Flivver Flash!" podcast on March 31, 2020.  You can listen to, "The Kingsford Flivver Flash!" on your favorite podcasting app.
